The Return

Ah... It seems we brought the fine weather from Malaysia to Japan. It was cool, not as hot as expected through out our stay. Just as we were leaving today, Typhoon number 11 hit land, bringing with it torrents of rain. I so wished it would have struck earlier... then I won't have to leave Japan so soon.

Now I'm back in KL, dry and tired, and stuck with a ¥500 umbrella. They jack up the prices for brellies when it rains...

Lessons commence tomorrow... I've got a couple of 8am classes and no free days. I won't be in the same classes as most of my gang either. Still, the prospects are bright. New classes where you don't know anybody means new friends (^_^)

So Far, So Good.

It's been a couple of days since I've arrived in Japan, four days, to be precise. Here are some pictures of what I've been up to with my family ever since I arrived:

Narita Shrine

Okonomiyaki Man in Sengawa

Grape Orchard in Sengawa (100g for... forgot how much)

Pear Orchard in Kawasaki ( 6 for ¥1500)

Izu Peninsular. The circled area is Ito. That's where my host family's summer house is.

The Kojima Summer House

Fireworks at Ito Harbour.

The rest of the pictures will be uploaded on fb soon. Be patient. I'm lazy. (^_^)

The Grim Reaper Is On A Hunting Spree~

I don't know about you guys, but for me, this past few months have been peppered with funerals. First off was my Granny, then it was F's granny, then Uncle D's father... Now things don't look too good for Uncle Larry... N's mom also doesn't seem to be farring any better.

All this death and dying business does seriously get you into a pensive mood. Still, in a way it's kinda good. Works like an alarm clock. It jerks you up and makes you realise the frailty of life. "For all men a like grass, and their glory is like the flowers of the field; The grass withers and the flowers fall."

How have I been spending my life? They say when you die, you whole life will flash before you. I want to make sure mine is worth watching. How about you?

Death also makes you wonder what on earth are we here for. I've heard of the struggles my grandmother went through, and I watched suffer during her last moments. While she was alive, the stuggles she went through would have made her a stonger person. Yet, at the end, what does it all amount to? "Vanity of vanities, all is vanity."

So what then do we live for? I know what I live for. I live to hone my skills and talents which God has given me so I may bring glory to Him. I may not be doing a very good job, but at least I'm trying my best.

Do you know what you are living for?

Suprises!

I wrapped up the last of my work at the computer lab and made my way to the lifts. I pushed the down button and waited.

'Ding!'

The elevator's doors slid open and I saw two of my old friends inside.

"SHIMRON!!!!"They yelled. Like I wasn't already losing enough stereocilia.

It's so nice to have friends around in uni, and even better when more of them enroll \(^_^)/

On my way out of the computer lab, JH asked me to guard his laptop while he ran downstairs to grab a cup of coffee. I took the liberty to browse around, and I came across the new schedule for next semester.

Wednesday
PSY112 L2

A Psalm for Uncle Larry

1 Bow down Your ear, O LORD, hear me;

For I am poor and needy.
2 Preserve my life, for I am holy;
You are my God;
Save Your servant who trusts in You!
3 Be merciful to me, O Lord,
For I cry to You all day long.
4 Rejoice the soul of Your servant,
For to You, O Lord, I lift up my soul.
5 For You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive,
And abundant in mercy to all those who call upon You.
6 Give ear, O LORD, to my prayer;
And attend to the voice of my supplications.
7 In the day of my trouble I will call upon You,
For You will answer me.
8 Among the gods there is none like You, O Lord;
Nor are there any works like Your works.
9 All nations whom You have made
Shall come and worship before You, O Lord,
And shall glorify Your name.
10 For You are great, and do wondrous things;
You alone are God.
11 Teach me Your way, O LORD;
I will walk in Your truth;
Unite my heart to fear Your name.
12 I will praise You, O Lord my God, with all my heart,
And I will glorify Your name forevermore.
13 For great is Your mercy toward me,
And You have delivered my soul from the depths of Sheol.
14 O God, the proud have risen against me,
And a mob of violent men have sought my life,
And have not set You before them.
15 But You, O Lord, are a God full of compassion, and gracious,
Longsuffering and abundant in mercy and truth.
16 Oh, turn to me, and have mercy on me!
Give Your strength to Your servant,
And save the son of Your maidservant.
17 Show me a sign for good,
That those who hate me may see it and be ashamed,
Because You, LORD, have helped me and comforted me.

Uncle Larry Loh was assulted and is now in critical condition. He and his family needs all the prayers and support they can get.

A Thousand Dollars

Look. Say you lend a guy ten thousand bucks. What do you want from him?

Get it back?
Would you lend it to him if he wouldn't commit to that?

If a girl gives you her trust; If she puts herself in your hands, she wants a commitment you won't break her heart.
