Baby, Come Back!

Why did you have to leave?
Just disappearing like that...
No news at all.
Did you know how worried you made me?
Do you know how much I missed you?
I never really knew how precious you were to me until I needed you.
Cross my heart, I'll never let you go again.

Things are not always as they seem. Hehe.

The Plight Before Christmas

12 days before Christmas she mentioned to her truelove that her favourite perfume was DKNY Delicious Green Apple.

11 days before Christmas she observed that a food processor would come in handy for making fruit shakes for her diet.

10 days before Christmas she confided that she'd lost her one and only umbrella.

9 days before Christmas she told him that Mike had asked what to give his beloved for Christmas, and she'd advised him that any woman would be overjoyed to find a white evening gown under the tree.

8 days before Christmas she left by the telephone an ad for a Turkish Cotton Bathrobe, marked with her size and colour preference.

7 days before Christmas she remarked upon the uncanny coincidence that her age and her blouse size were precisely the same.

6 days before Christmas she moaned that she was down to her last bottle of Black Sugar Mask Wash-Off from Skin Food.

5 days before Christmas she told him that she'd have made Poco Rosso Di Rotini Formagiatta Con Bacon-bitte Della Toscana for dinner if only she had an Italian cookbook to tell her how.

4 days before Christmas she informed him that MNG had just received a new shipment of handbags.

3 days before Christmas she mentioned that her wristwatch was losing five minutes a day and the repairman said it wasn't worth fixing.

2 days before Christmas she lamented that she didn't really have a nice pair of shades like, for instance, the ones she saw on display at Forever 21.

1 day before Christmas, her truelove said to her, "Honey, I haven't any idea what to give you for Christmas. How's about me giving you my credit card and you can buy yourself something you want?"

Lol.

In Loving Memory of Wan Lian Ooi

Wan Lian Ooi
24.8.1929 - 18.7.2009

Last October, as she sent us off.

Today, after we sent her off.

Wife, mother, grandmother.

"我什么都当过,只当不到有钱人。"
"I have played every job in life, except that of a rich woman."

In your poverty, you have enriched the lives of generations to come. You will be sorely missed, and your life story will continue to be an inspiration to all of us.

Wisdom Pt. 2

Null hypotheses failed to be rejected. z<1.96 Wisdom levels do not seem to have changed significantly.

Yeah, that was really quick. I went into the hospital at 1600 and was bundled out 2 and a half hours later.

Here's a summary of what happened:

Oww! Bzzzzzzzt!Bzzzzzzt!Crack!Bzzzzt!Crack!You're done.

Turns out I had both my wisdom teeth quartered since they were growing horizontally. Now I'm stuck biting on gauze to stop the bleeding (did you know saliva was an anti-coagulant?), changing gauze every couple of minutes or so, and trying to push the pain out of my mind. Now its either I bleed to death or I die of nerve wrecking pain.

Well, on the bright side, I have a very legitimate excuse for not brushing my teeth, at least until the bleeding stops.

So, off to set the alarm for 0400 just so I don't miss taking my antibiotics.

Wisdom

Righty-O... I've got myself an appointment for my wisdom tooth extraction on Monday. I have two theories of the outcome:

1. It unplugs some innate source of wisdom and I suddenly become significantly wiser.
2. The only form crystalised wisdom I have will be removed and I will become significantly foolish.

So I suppose I'll now have to brace myself for a week or more of pain, porridge, and silence.

Soliloquy

Sometimes you reach a point in life where you look back all that has gone before. Your imagination digs deep and draws on the well of memories. It makes you wonder how life would be if you did this the other way, or that some other way. Sometimes it brings a smile to your face, sometimes it makes you regret.

There are many things which I have said and done which I regret. There also things I didn't say or do, which I also regret. Its mostly the things which I should have said back then which make me wonder 'if'.

"I'll listen to you and come back home."
"I'm sorry. That was uncalled for."
"I'll write every week!"
"No, thank you."
"Goodbye, take care."
"Come back safe."
"That was cool, good job!"
"I like your new hairstyle. Looks great on you."
"I'll come back this weekend."
"I'm not busy, go ahead."

And most of all, the words I regret not saying enough to those around me:

"I love you."

I apologise if I should have said something but didn't. I'm not a perfect man.

Sudden Enlightenment

It just dawned on me suddenly...

I've got another 2 months before I bid adolescence farewell and embrace the beginnings of adulthood.

I suppose I'll have to enjoy my twilight days in all its pomp and glory.

I'll start with a list of things teenagers usually do and slowly cross them off.

List of Things Teenagers Usually Do

1. .... What DO they usually do?

Happy Birthday 17th Ho Chze Zheng

Kena tapau! Original plan was to doodle on him with marker pen but seems the girls got "a little" carried away.

Akibat all the stuff we poured on him, we couldn't draw anything with the marker pen.

The trifle and cream before we smeared it on each other. The ruckus must have been due to the sherry in it. Yup, definitely the alcohol.

Before he got tapaued...

The organiser of the tapau-ing also gets his share...

Moral of the story: NEVER EVER have anything with cream at your birthday party.

Pre - Exam Stress

For some reason, this time round I'm not feeling the panic... It doesn't feel normal.... There isn't the usual "Ahhh! It's 2 days to my finals!!!!" feeling which usually hits around, well, 2 days before the paper. No running around in frantic circles regurgitating notes from lectures past.

These few days, it has just been study gatherings with the gang in Mackers all around town. Calm and placid, ruminating on both our notes and on burgers. In fact, I actually feel kind of elated that the exams are round the corner. This is definitely not normal.

I need to see a doctor. Quick. I bet they'll name this condition after me. Imagine:"I'm sorry to tell you, but you've got Shimron's Syndrome".

Achoo!

Great, now you've got it too.
