A Rare Treat

My dad isn't one who openly expresses his affection for his kids. Hearing the words 'I love you' is like finding leprechaun gold.

Today was one of those days the little fey cobblers decided to pay us a visit (^_^) After going to watch Shimri run 1500m for MSSM, he took a detour and dropped by the phone shop to take a look at some phones.

Dad asked the lady for a good, cheap phone. She drew out a Nokia, but it wasn't to his liking. When she produced a Sony Ericsson J132 from under her drawer, my dad went 'hmmmm, not bad', which usually means 'I like that'. It ended up with my brother and I leaving the shop with one each, in different shades. I took the white, he took the black.

The J132: Simple, minimal functions, elegant, light. Its not like we need more complications in this already complicated world. Not exactly the perfect phone I had in mind, but works all the same. Most importantly, its the manner in which this phone came into my hands; The emotions it conveys.

My dad may suck at expressing his feelings, but I don't mind this form of expression either.  \(^0^)/

THANKS DAD, WE LOVE YOU TOO!

Heatwave

Ah... Must have been me. Too hot for Melaka to handle, so I caused a heatwave (^_^)
The afternoons here are sweltering hot. Phew! 35degrees is super crazy! Though such a hot day means only one thing! Pool time!!

So, off shirt and pants, hello trunks, (dustdust, sneeze), hello goggles! The usually frigid pool on the 9th floor of Renaissance felt really good after being baked in the afternoon heatblast. Did a couple of laps then tumbled around with some of my friends from the dojo whom I met there.

This brings back old memories of my Japanese summer...ah... Makes me feel like going to the beach. Maybe I should (^_^)

So, who want's to go to the beach?

Learning How to Cook Italian in Olio

Remember I told you guys I was going for a cooking lesson at Renaissance Hotel? Well, here are the pictures of today's lesson. Sigh...If only there were unmarried, younger women there...XD

Notice that I am the only guy in the group. I was elated to find another guy walk in and sit down next to me.

Executive Sous Chef James briefing us on the mise en place.

Tarragon, Oregano, Basil, Chives, Parsely...

The counter is seriously too low for me. Note to self : Build a comfortably high counter when renovating house.

Crepe with fruit compote and marscapone. My mom took a picture of her own since I finished all my courses a little too fast for a picture (^_^).

End of Semester 1 Celebration

So due to the aforementioned reason (if you can understand Japanese), there was an abrupt change in dinner plans. Still being in the mood to celebrate the end of my 1st semester, all four of us went to Mid Valley's Italiannies to celebrate (and also pay off my outstanding debts for grocery shopping).

Shrimp Aglio Olio

A surprsingly large dish since it came after the spaghetti, which was smaller. The shrimps were really well prepared, being firm and sweet, not overcooked. Unfortunately the tang of the tomatoes and olives in combination quite overpowered the sweetness of the shrimps.

Beef Lasagne
This is one of the best lasagne I have ever tasted. The richness of the red sauce and cheese paired very well with the pastry, toning down the usually overpowering taste.

Spaghetti and Meatballs
Those were the biggest balls I have ever seen! (risque pun intended) I really like the way the chef managed to retain the form of the tomato chunks, giving this everyday dish an interesting twist.

Jared's Sunrise Tequila

Mark and his Cosmopolitan

Jared trying Mark's Cosmopolitan

Jun Hao with Mark's Cosmopolitan

I was a good boy and stayed off the C2H5OH since someone had to get us all back in one piece. Watching Jared and Mark high is seriously very entertaining. Mark went lala and walked mindlessly around. We drove off without him and parked in a corner just to watch him wander around the carpark. Jared went into power saver mode and was quiet all the way home.

Those two are out like lights, and considering the fact that Mark has an exam tomorrow... hahaha. I did tell him to stay off the "special drinks" after all (^_^).

Glorifying God in our relationships

I would definitely take time off to go for this talk since its not very often talks like this are organised to cater for the young adults and teens. The very very important questions of our youth will be answered here, and unless you're one of those people who proudly annouced that you will never get married, I suggest you join us! \(^_^)/

HIS hand reached out and held mine.

But I will sing of your strength, in the morning I will sing of your love; for you are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble. Psalms 59:16

HE was there when I was dejected. In HIS mercy HE sent my friends to reassure me. Through them, HE has healed me.

Goodbye Kabe-san. Goodbye product of my loneliness. Now that I know for sure there are real people who care for me out there, I don't need to bounce ideas off you anymore. Sayonara. You were never good for my mental health anyway.

Tata!

Well, at least not forever. My exams are this very week itself and I haven't finished what I am supposed to have covered. I'll be taking a short hiatus, and I'll get back once the gruelling ordeal is over.

So back to operant conditioning, hypnosis, internal validity, personalities, and work breakdown structures.

Ganbare, Shimu!!

Who is this Man?

I stumbled upon this website while reading The Malaysian Insider:

http://www.y-jesus.com/body_count1.php?gclid=CLLWlrLd5pkCFcIvpAodUDQ4RQ

It has long been said that the Achilles' Heel of Christianity is Jesus' resurrection. If it would one day someone could prove that Jesus did not rise from the dead as proclaimed, the keystone of Christianity would be taken away, and Christianity demolished.

But did Jesus really rise from the dead? Was He real? I find this website reasonably good in answering your questions.

Today being Good Friday, the day we commemorate Jesus' sacrifice for us, it would be a good time for finding out more about this Man.

Ashita!

It means tomorrow in Japanese.

And, yes, tomorrow!

It'll be the 1st time on the big stage with 100 over spectators for me.

At 1300, the HELP CF has an Easter event planned called Life Pieces.

There will be Praise and Worship, a Skit, a ventriloquist, and some singing.

I hope this will be a time where many hearts are touched by the true story behind Easter.

Pray that the Lord would prepare the hearts of those going, and that the seed of hope may be planted.

I hope everything goes well so that His name will be glorified.

Paddington's!

So we were hungry and too lazy to cook. Eating out is such a hassle since all the good shops around our area always are closed on Sunday evenings. Instead of sitting around to decide where to eat before leaving, I suggested we drive out, then decide.

After a few phone calls to my local KL friends, we headed to Paddington's at the Curve. Nice one, Bel! The plate for 10 was very tempting, but since Mark and Jun Hao weren't up to it, we each ordered a dish each.

Mark: The Treasure Box

Jun Hao: The something something with mixed fruits.

There isn't any photo of mine 'cos I had ..erm... consumed it with extreme ettiquete by the time we remembered to take pictures.

All in all, it was like RM85-ish for the 3 of us. Expensive? Oh well...
Next time we'll bring the whole gang along to attack the platter for 10 \(^_^)/ I bet Joycie would love this.

Nocturnal Musings

My mind wanders across
Unkempt gardens splattered with moss
In my mind's eye I see
A figure ahead of me
I call out to the yonder entity
But my voice rings in vain across the empty
Like on winged sandals it glides
Amongst the shadowy, sinister groves
In an instant it pauses
And turns to smile
Then on again the chase commences
Like an antelope it prances
How far must I run on?
Soon the svelte figure would be gone
Staring into the dark appalling
Harken the voice calling!
This is the voice I've longed to hear
What angel's beckoning draws me near?
My eyes widen, so full of gleam
Is this a metaphor or a fancy dream?
