Rantings in APA Format.

It seems Malaysia and the antics our government has been up to have caught the attention of Forbes, an American publishing and media company, whose flagship magazine is published fortnightly (Wikipedia, 2009).

The author minces no words in pointing out the condition in Malaysia. The Myth of A Moderate Malaysia: Canings, Cows' Heads and Ethnoreligious Apartheid really hits home (Dhume, 2009). If I'm not mistaken, a while back, Hishammuddin told the public not to compare Malaysia's Bumiputera policy to the apartheid, stating that he would take stern action if it were mentioned again (The Malaysian Insider, 2009). I'd like to see him try go after Forbes.

I've also read a comment on the internet by one Diana arguing that Malay supremacy does not equate to apartheid (Turkish Gambit, 2009). It, on the other hand, is a delicate issue and should not be compared to other ethnocentric discrimination (Turkish Gambit, 2009). Delicate issue? Every time an issue concerning the Special Rights of the Malays as provided in the Federal Constitution, Articles 3, 4, 152, and 153 is raised, I hear the same old answer: This is a sensitive issue. End of discussion. The American Constitution has 27 amendments to it (Mount, 2009); Isn't it about time we actually sat down like men to discuss the relevance of the aforementioned articles in today's Malaysian society without hiding behind the phrase 'sensitive issue'? Then again, I suppose I shouldn't use the phrase 'like men'. We're not very well known for being sensible and genteel.

This cancer is spreading fast and will kill the body unless it is cut out (Wee, 2009). If the current situation is going to go out of hand, only God can stop me from leaving the country like the countless ex-Malaysians before me.

My Schedule Doth Overflow

I think I'm filling my schedule up a little too tight. Tuesday and Thursday evenings are for Judo training, while Wednesday means choir practice. Friday nights are bible study, leaving only Monday, Saturday, and Sunday free. Wednesdays in particular are a killer since I leave the house at a quarter to 10, and don't get back till 10 in the night. Midterms and assignment deadlines coming along are not making things any easier.

On a side note, I'm supposed to be doing a Personal Development Assignment (PDA) for my LLS101 class. In this assignment, I am supposed to pick an aspect of my behaviour and attempt to alter it within the time frame given. After thinking, I decided to correct my bad habit of sleeping late. The irony of the entire situation is that due to this assignment (and other factors, of course) I find myself sleeping in the wee hours of the morning. Ha.

Did I also mention that there will be a Halloween party in October, organised by the BPsych Student Council? *SinisterGrin*

Be Still My Soul

Be still, my soul: the Lord is on thy side;
Bear patiently the cross of grief or pain;
Leave to thy God to order and provide;
In ev'ry change He faithful will remain.
Be still, my soul: thy best, thy heav'nly Friend

Through thorny ways leads to a joyful end.

Sometimes when we spend too much time worrying about our future, or planning our next step, we forget. We forget a lot of things, and one of them is that God will provide in His own timing, and that He is on our side. So, be still, my soul. Let not all the those worrisome thoughts bother you. Chillax (^0^)

My Part-Time Job

Come Friday, I'll be a lecturer at HELP. Not bad huh?

Actually, I'm only going to be teaching Japanese for the Japanese Cultural Society. So no bragging rights there. Haha.

It's only going to be a small class. Okay, maybe small is an understatement. There are only 3 people who have signed up, but it's okay. I'm sure there will be more soon.

Still, it really feels nice now that I've got myself a part-time job. Makes the transition to the Big 20's easier on my ego. Lol. Having a job makes you feel grown-up, responsible. So I suppose a part-time job would make me almost rather grown-up. Ha! I still have a looooooong way to go.

I do recall my dad saying I shouldn't date with his money....mwaharharhar *evilgrin* Step 1 complete mwahahahahahaha *rubs hands with evil glee*
But actually come to think of it, after deducting the expenses for text books and other teaching materials, there isn't much left... So much for step 1. Lol.

Hope this one's a keeper. (*^_^*) 頑張れ!

What Are you Talking About? Nothing~

Research done by Csikxzentmihalyi ( Cheek-sent-me-high-ee) & Figurski in 1982 showed results of great importance!

They did a research on what people spent their day thinking about. Among various boring things like work and research projects, it was found that people only think about themselves about 7% of the time! Talk about being self-aware...

Even better, people spent close to 15% of the time thinking about.....nothing! 3.6 hours a day, we spend thinking about nothing. No wonder everytime I ask people what's on their mind, they say 'nothing~'.

Boring-nya~!

What A Way to Turn 20

How nice... I'll be having not one, but 2 exams on my birthday. Yeah.........

Usually people end their semester with an exam and start looking forward to the holidays. I on the other hand, start my semester with an exam.

Not only are the exams on my birthday, they are also on a Saturday, which severely limits my social activities, assuming I had any.

I'd better not fail those two papers or this will go down in history as the worst birthday ever.

On a totally unrelated topic, there have been new additions to the Ministry House Gang. Jonathan from Melaka/Johor, and Melissa from Penang. Jonathan is now staying with us at the Ministry House while Melissa is housemates with Joycie.

Welcome to the Mad House \(^0^)/ Nice to have new faces around! If you think you're relatively sane and normal....well, I thought I was till I met the Ministry House Gang...haha. Watch in amazement as your IQ plummets and your LQ soars!

Lol.

....

I'm scared. A little flustered but mostly scared. Coming to reality is like hitting the ground after jumping off the 21st floor. I'm not ready. I've always wanted it, but now I see the inadequacy in myself. When the time comes, will I be able to bear the responsibility? For the mean time what do I do?
