Lai Fun

This is called Lai Fun 粉 , not to be confused with
Lou Shu Fun 老鼠粉 which is a totally different dish.

Therefore, I take it as my responsibility to enlighten the plebs (^_^)
It's a Hainanese dish, the lesser known twin to the over-rated Chicken Rice.
My dad grew up making this at my grandpa's stall in
Sungai Lembing, a ghost of a town in Pahang.

Now my 4th uncle is running is running the stall in Kuantan.
Really good.
The noodles, made from rice, are soft and springy.
That smothered with a secret sauce handed down through the generations,
and some roast pork, and you have a wonderful saliva inducing dish.
Be sure to stop by the Pasar Baru coffee shop and look for this guy:

Be sure to get there early though... He sells out fast.

Cheers Pub and Bistro

There's a little slice of heaven tucked away in Jalan Batai. That area itself may put off any casual browser since its the super expensive neighbourhood, coupled with Klimt's (Authentic Austrian Cuisine at RM 45 or more a dish )being round the back. With some recommendations by friends in the Cantus Musicus, I have discovered another of KL's rare G-spots (^-^) Not the Grafenberg spot, mind you; The Gourmet spot.

The setting is like any other pub & bistro: dark and albeit gloomy, while the air smells lightly of tobacco. But seriously, the food is to die for!

For a fish and chips and a Caesar's salad, I paid only RM37.95 and didn't have to take dinner. Those who know me, not taking dinner is no joke since I'm almost always hungry. The fish fillet was like larger than my palm and thicker, served with chips on the side. Caesar salad was huge: Lettuce topped with salami, croutons, grilled chicken bits, and Parmesan cheese. They do also have like a large range of soups, which are made fresh, selling from RM6~8. Alcoholic drinks are reasonably priced and adequately ranged.

Definitely one of those places to hit just before the exams (^-^)

Cheers, I'll be back!

On a lighter note:
Strange how we used to do that too... once upon a time...

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious-ness

I joined the HELP CF yesterday. Like all CFs, lots of songs and clapping, little gospel (Can't really say, since I'm new).  The fellowship unit is really nice and closely knit though. Well, no one is perfect, so I suppose we do have some stuff to work on here.

After CF, I joined E and gang at the Ministry House for lepak-ing till cellgroup. Was really fun singing praise songs and hymns. Once E's voice started breaking, we opted the safer route of playing camp games. The plastic cup is really cool; seriously can't wait to teach the people at the RBYC.

Clap, clap, 123
Clap and bring it over
Clap, grab, touch and put
change and cross!

In return, I taught them the "Bing Bong Game". Guarantee's unstoppable laughter! \(^o^)/

Went on chanting about some guy with a ping-pong ball for a head for the rest of the evening till dinner.

Cellgroup was edifying so far. It was led by the famous Uncle Sam and that night's talk revolved around the Gospel of Matthew. It was super duper surprising to see Rachel and Zu Ning there. I never knew...

And guess what? The fun spilled over into my weekend! Wondering what to do was conveniently crossed out of my to do list. A and J picked me up after an extra lecture, picked up E, then cruised to Petaling street. Spent the crown of the afternoon walking around Pirate Heaven, purchasing loads of food.

Then, balik rumah.

I wanna do this again! Thanks for the supercalifragilisticexpialidocious afternoon guys!

Surprise, surprise!

Check out what I found growing under the mirror in my uni's toilet!
Ling Zhi?
I wonder if its even edible...

Then again, tutorials start next week! Yay! Finally I don't have to be too free. An idle mind is the Devil's workshop. I'm joining Cantus Musicus again today, too.

There was a club and society fair today. I went to take a look, but since there wasn't much, I settled for the newsletter board and the fencing club.

The Introduction to Psychology 1 classes are finally getting heavy. Remembering nomenclature like Prosencephalon, Mensencephalon, and Rhombencephalon is definitely not going to be an easy task... To add to that, there's still the Occipital Lobe, Parietal Lobe, Temporal Lobe, Frontal Lobe... Forgive me if I space out suddenly in the midst of a conversation. It must be due to a Prefrontal Cortex (memory) overload. (^-^)

Lunch today was supposed to be a merry affair, till suddenly KC and K decided to pull out. Had to go to Subang... KM and HR never stays back for anything, so nothing much to expect (^-^) Ended up having lunch with MJ. 2 guys having lunch is seriously a silent affair.

Hiroe is now planning to visit Taman Negara. She'll be in KL tomorrow and will leave for the wilderness the day after. Hope she comes out alive. Will be kinda hard to explain to her mom that she got eaten by leeches... (^-^)

I Give You Thanks

My Father in Heaven,

I come before You now
To give You praise and worship
For You are the God
Who created the Heavens and the Earth
And all that is in it.

I would like to thank You
For the night You decided
That my neighbours
should be the noisest bunch of people
at 3am
I have now come to appreciate sleep
As a gift from You.

I also thank You
 for the opportunity
To meet many interesting characters
today after lectures.
Thank you
for providing me
With potential good friends.
You truly are
Jehovah Jireh.

I ask that You would grant me
The wisdom in dealing with people
And in running my own life
That I may be a testimony unto the world.

I put before You my psychology course
Where we have to explain
Human behaviour with
The absence of You;
Where Man is no longer
A responsible and thinking entity
But a product of his genes
And environment.
I ask that You use this new tool of mine
To further bring glory to Your own Name

Amen.

There we go! I'm officially a freshie \(^-^)/ Just started my term as a psychology student at HELP. Not much to say for now other than that I've finally found a place to stay. Nice comfy LITTLE room at the dorms which is a 10 min walk to the campus. Too tried to blog any farther. Ciao guys!

I'm gonna study persikologi!

I went up to KL on Tuesday to scout universities. 1st stop was MCKL to get my certificate copies certified. Then off to the Raintree club to meet up with Andrew and Steven.

1900 I left my Cheras "jail" for town by bus. Took me a darn 1 hour to reach Petaling Street. By the time I did, it was already precipitating felines and canines. Switched buses in the middle of the rain to reach Midvalley. By the time I got there, Isabel and the gang was already there.

Isabel's party was a brief dinner and lots of talking. 2230 I hopped onto a train and got to Serdang. From there my nightmare began...

I called my mom to tell her I was going to catch a bus to Bukit Cheras Perdana, but needed to know exactly where they were. She ended up asking her friend to pick me up from the station.

Wrong move

She arrived with a strangely famliar glint in her eyes. 1st thing she did was demand for payment for her ride, shoving it in my face that I shouldn't expect free rides all the time. It was kinda scary until Hiroe told me that the lady had been drinking. Explains the familiar glint.

When we reached my Jail, she sat us all down for a lecture on how we should "work hard and not rely on others, and that prayers don't help", and her resume and inventory of jewelry.

She didn't end till 0100.

Dream time wasn't at all nice either. I dreamt I was at the Teluk Danga Judo competition and my opponent was a super fat girl. Spent the whole night figuring out how to flip her.

Wednesday I went to HELP to get my application straightened out. Filing in forms and running around with not enough sleep is horrible. Went to find some accommodation, so went round the dorms and some other places. Some of the rooms for rent are seriously appalling.

Imagine if the whole house was like you were looking through sequoia glasses.
And the walls were caved in, and just loosely boarded over.
The carpets and sofas needed fumigation.
I need a biohazard suit to enter the kitchen.

So I settled for a single room with no window and no toilet attached. Not bad I suppose, with all the other choices I have: the room mentioned above, and a RM7000 a month house.

So there, I'm now a persikologi student.
